Washington DC App Washington DC App

I found this site to be fascinating. I am going to visit DC in September and was looking for ideas and places I will see on my tour. Although it is for kids, I liked the interactive format. It was easy to navigate. It takes more than one sitting to read through the information. I would recommend this for grade school kids as well as adults.

Great Intro To D.C. For Kids Great Intro To D.C. For Kids

This colorful and informative app seems to be perfectly calculated to benefit kids and, frankly, adults alike. Our nations capital has an interesting and complex history. This app does a pretty good job of starting the learning process and piquing interest in this important city. There is also an emphasis on showing the major monuments, museums and buildings in the city. This geographical information and associated graphic depictions of key structures is perfectly suited for acquainting younger visitors with the physical layout of Washington and its popular tourist attractions. Highly recommended.

A little too politically correct A little too politically correct

Like the other Kids Discover apps, this has some nice graphics, nice animations and nice info. My problem is that it tries to be a little too politically correct. For example, it says that Benjamin Banneker had to bail out Pierre L'Enfant because of L'Enfant's impetuousness ( while admitting that this is just "a story"). Plus, I question Martin Luther King's importance to Washington D. C. that he merits a place on the main index screen.

Amazing! Amazing!

Great overview. My 8-year old and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and flipping through DC. Looking forward to checking out the other editions.
