  • Great functionality, but...
One of the better Weather apps for the iPhone. Actually works really well and the morning notification is actually informative ("5 degrees cooler than yesterday" etc). Works great on my iPhone 5. There is no iPad version but it does work on the iPad...BUT... My iPad3 has been experiencing a home button that is slow to respond. Removing this app from my iPad has helped. This app is NOT the cause of this but is doing something to make it worse. So, great for the iPhone but skip it for the iPad.

  • Ok, doesn't drain battery but keeps logging me out
When it works it works ok. I don't see excessive battery drain others claim (yes the location services are used a lot but Google uses assisted GPS (WiFi etc) for this rather that draining true GPS. However, I use Google 2-factor authentication and at least once a day it keeps logging me out and forcing me to log in again. So in the end I just have up using this App. Sorry Google.

  • Good for streaming but where's my queue
The steaming seems ok but why can't I add, delete or reorder my queue?

  • A great App spoiled by no Video AirPlay
I would give this App 4 or 5 stars but they disabled AirPlay video. You can project the audio to an AirPlay device but not the video. Isn't the purpose of video to watch it on the largest screen possible? Why only 2 stars? They did not fix it in this subsequent release.

  • I deleted the App...
This is a tough review to write as it is a comment less on the App standalone but on the NYTimes business model as a whole that includes this App. I am a believer that the papers must migrate to digital delivery/Apps AND a pay structure. I am NOT a fan of the complex pay structures and "pay multiple times" for the same/similar content on different platforms. If I can pay once for a subscription across all digital platforms (e.g Web/iPhone App/IPad App and any other digital platform), I would do it (if priced sensibly to attract people in early - they can raise prices over time slowly to smooth the transition to a pay infrastructure). However, I am against paying once for Web, again for iPhone and again for another platform. This will not fly and I will not play. I heard the reports on the introduction of the "pay wall", saw the new version of the App and deleted it without running it (hence my first comment about this being a challenging review). I DO AGREE that quality News sources like the NYT need to start asking us all to start paying but they are approaching this in the most ham-fisted manner. They need to make this transition to a pay structure smooth, easy to understand and low cost. They may not make the money they need to from this approach early on but they can slowly increase prices over time to make up for this. Investigative journalism does cost money (good people need to be paid a good salary) and they need more of this. This is also the "Catch 22". So in summary - I deleted the App no so much of App limitations but as I don't want to pay multiple times for the same material on different platforms. By the way, the same is true for the WSJ.
