Playing at the expert level, there are so many proper nouns that you can't really use logic to get you started -- many of the words are obscure people, or company names that don't contain common letters or follow typical letter patterns. Worse, they use abbreviations unexpectedly (e.g., Calif instead of California or CA). And you usually only see a partial quote so it doesn't always make sense. I also see a lot of variations of the same headline repeated several times in one session. I like the idea of using news headlines for the puzzles but this just isn't fun. One improvement on the expert level might be to show all instances of a correct letter, not just solve for one word at a time. Then you could at least have a fair chance on some of the proper nouns.
