  • Only one thing I miss
That should be a 4.5: Skitch is really very, very good for the kind of things I do -- mostly screen captures that I need to annotate for documentation. It lacks only one thing to be a 5 (and my one and only screen capture tool): it can't capture menus (at least on Mac -- I don't know about Windows). That's a feature I must have sometimes, so I have to keep around another capture tool like Snagit or SnapZpro for those moments. Otherwise Skitch is really good -- easy to use, and has just about the right set of editing and annotation tools -- cropping, pointer, basic shapes, add text, blur, highlight.

  • a great lightweight graphics editor
First I'd like to correct some misinformation from other reviews. I don't know about Lion, as I don't have that running anywhere any more, but this app launches fine on Mountain Lion, and it's a pleasure to use -- very intuitive, very fast. There's not a lot of advanced features, but fine for simple jobs, and there's a more full-featured version elsewhere on the Store if you need that. I love the fact that it uses SVG as its native format -- not SVG in particular, but the fact that it's an open standard. I dislike proprietary graphics formats, because they've caused me more than a few headaches when a product was killed or when I simply decided to move to a new tool. It's reassuring to know that you will still be able to open all of your files even if you no longer have the editor. Nicely done app on the whole -- using it for a couple of days easily convinced me to upgrade to the full version.

  • A developer’s best friend
I’ve tried every snippets manager I can find (because I’m like that) and Dash is hands-down the best. The snippets functionality is robust and flexible, with the ability to define placeholders for variables, cursor positioning, points to insert clipboard contents and more. There is syntax highlighting and editing capability, and expansion triggers that allow you to insert snippets without leaving the keyboard. And then there are the doc sets — how fabulous to have every developer reference I need at hand, searchable from inside any of my code editors, on and off-line, and without having to switch to a browser and dig up the bookmark. I use Dash about 1000 times a day, and it’s the biggest timesaver in my toolbox. If you are a developer, you can’t afford not to have this app. Oh, and the developer is very responsive when you have questions or issues.

  • As fast as promised
A solid and very fast browser. Not as many features around bookmarks as I'd like, but the speed at which it loads indispensables (for me) like Google Calendar and gmail makes up for it -- I find myself using it for just about everything except web development -- I'd happily use it for that too if there were even rudementary developer tools like a JavaScript console. Very pleased with Lightning and highly recommend it.

  • A really fine practical drawing app
These folks understand that most of us open up drawing tools not to play with all the drawing tools, but to get simple diagrams and such done efficiently. TouchDraw is lightweight, intuitive, and yet powerful, and keeps getting better with every release. It's been a big time-saver for me.
