  • An alternative to iBooks
Stanza is a better eBook reader than iBooks or Kindle in some ways. It is very configurable so, for example, you can rename books, you can totally turn off any time wasting page transition animations & it works well with a Calibre book server running on your "mainframe" -- if you have one set up. There is, however, one bad bug in Stanza 3.2 (iOS 5.1.1, iPad 3 & probably other iOS devices, too): if you zoom a page, it stops responding to taps, other than zooming or shrinking. However, there is a workaround (tested on iPad 3): 1) Double tap the centre of the screen so the page zooms back to normal size. 2) Very slightly pinch to zoom (it must be zoom, not shrink) the page by just one or two pixels, and then let go. The page should snap back to normal size and you will have control of the interface again. If you expanded the page too far and it does not snap back just repeat steps one and two. This is not a perfect solution - but it does seem to make Stanza practically usable again. (thanks to anthropouk)

  • Pretty good, but not great
Vodio is not a "curator" as their description states because a curator selects works of art for a museum or gallery based on a comprehensive & developed understanding of the genre or genres from which those works will be selected. Vodio is an aggregator -- it collects works, in this case, videos from different sources, and the selection is hit or miss, mostly miss. However, if you want a TV like "experience" where the show just keeps on going, it is adequate. Maybe you like to sleep with your TV or radio playing all night long & you want your iDevice to do the same thing. Vodio will do this. But if you want meaningful selection, you'll have to do that yourself or get a real human to do that.

  • Doesn't work on iPad 3
Only shows a static (non updating) image and you must kill the app and restart it to view another web cam, which only shows a still image.

  • Effect on LED life?
These flashlight apps are great, but if one uses it a lot, does it wear out the LED? One would think so, since the LED is being run at maximum brightness, right? Does anyone know?
