Sorry to say this is a mess. Apple has managed to achieve an astounding feat: compatibility with Word but not with prior verisons of Pages. If you download the latest on your iPad and you happen to have an earlier version on your desktop or laptop, you cannot access the new document created by your iPad. In order to achieve compataiblity, you must buy the new version of Pages. Ditto Keynote and Numbers. Why bother? Avoid.
