  • Private mode not private
UPDATE: Version 8.1 STILL does not delete html local storage... you still can be tracked. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Local persistent storage is retained even when private mode is activated and the browser is closed and reopened.

  • Private mode not private
Doesn't delete local storage even though it deletes cookies, cache and history... that doesn't make any sense because most trackers use local storage these days.

  • Pro version feature not listed
The description doesn't disclose that the non-Pro version has ads. It also doesn't show that in the screen shots. For being intentionally misleading in the description and wasting my download time and clogging my iTunes purchase list, I rate it the lowest possible (would be lower if it could).

  • What's the point?
Not sure about the point of this app. I still have to bring my membership card although my membership info is in the app. The coupon book states I have to show the book or the app to get the discounts, but the app doesn't even show the new single "master barcode" for the coupon book. There's a store locator, but the website has that. The locations can't be set to work with Passbook (not surprising since there's no member info or coupon barcodes). The UI is awful and difficult to use with the phone holding thumb. Is the Costco app team a bunch of backwards thinking former mainframe prople? They need to hire some innovators that understand the potential of the mobile platform and smartphone, and to implement it. Sheesh, even just copy what some others are doing if they can't manage anything original.

  • Where' the buildings go
New update: Still super glitchy, user interface is too sensitive and difficult to use, and crashes ALL THE TIME on all my devices from iPad 3rd gen to iPad Air/mini retina. Sigh. Update to review: Well, at least one can disable 3D buildings in this version (7.0), but it's not necessary because buildings in almost every city are gone. Places like Las Vegas that used to have tons of buildings are now empty. San Francisco and Los Angeles have almost every building but that's not very useful unless you're looking at those places. I guess I give it an extra star because it no longer crashes on my iPad 3rd gen, will give it a go on the iPad 1 later since that one won't be getting iOS 6. original: "Can't disable 3D buildings layer, thus crashes a lot on all iPad versions" Viewing the Buildings layer was added in for a recent update, so now if you zoom in and wait a bit for buildings to load, the app will definitely crash. There's no way to turn off the layer or disable poorly constructed models that might generate a crash, these features exist on the desktop version for obvious reasons. My iPad 1 crashes super fast, my new iPad (3rd gen) crashes quickly, especially over cities like Las Vegas or San Francisco. Hoping iOS 6 Maps app can replace this as GE has been an abomination since it came out. I just needed it for access to reviews, something in every version of Google Maps EXCEPT the iOS version (yes even dumbphone/featurephone JAR/midp verions).
