  • So good, too short.
A fun game reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls. Pro's: Good graphics, lovely world, customizable character, real-time fast paced combat, optimizable difficulty, open world, skills build by using them, horses and flying mounts, nice looking items, some quality voice acting. Cons: Short, no real opportunities or gameplay for a thief or Mage, seems incomplete and downright dry in many areas, not much variety or chance of interesting weapons/armor, small world with one moderate town, forgettable generic story, characters and world, mainly big and small monsters not many humanoid enemies, fixed camera. I've played the game through 2x, probably not worth 7 bucks. playing on the highest difficulty second time round was the best; it is challenging and makes you think. There's almost always a way to get out of reach of enemies and still strike or shoot them. Fights can start to feel like a death match and end fairly quick. Some may not like that cause being a tank is not really possible on higher difficulties. I like dealing damage and using stealth, finesse and tactical maneuvers or vantage points to avoid getting hit instead. It'd be nice if the camera was free and you just auto targeted enemies in the direction you faced ranged combat and melee.

  • Almost Legendary (Not Quite)
This is a port of a game I used to play originally for PC. Some improvements have been made but as usual it's dumbed down. This would have been a fantastic port of the old fantasy real-time strategic sim builder with heroes running around on their own RPG-like grind to level up and get gold. Pros: Humorous and entertaining scenarios, improved artistic styling of the Warrior of Discord and Paladin heroes, engaging kingdom building sim with monsters vs the kingdom, good old original soundtrack. Buildings no longer require builders, they just build automatically, slower the more repairs and building is at hand. Wizard tower spells are no longer limited to a spell radius around magic towers. Fun diverse classes/guilds with specialized spells, skills and equipment. Pro and Con: Same old autonomous AI heroes, not much of a way around that. Some RTS players will be frustrated by the autonomous AI controlled heroes while others may find it liberating and entertaining as I did with the original. Cons: Biggest pet peeve and sim sin of all, YOU *blank insert curse* limited the number of heroes and buildings; only 20 heroes!! I used to enjoy playing after victory, covering the playable area in buildings waiting until heroes got up to level 600 something by letting it play over night, no kidding. The overall artistic style and details of the original game are dulled or lost to the cartoony puerile superficial App Store style so common in modern fantasy games, however the original detail would be displayed improperly on mobile phone screens. Rangers have been so nerfed, right out of the box a sewer rat can eat them for lunch; I just don't use them. Wizards, much as before, even above level 20 are overpowered killing machines until a goblin sneezes and then they die, especially if that sneeze is a projectile. Tax collectors should've been replaced by an automatic tax collection event over intervals of time just as the builders are only implied and replaced by an automatic construction process. I never understood why elves and dwarves were limited to 2 and 3 per guild; why not 4 like the other guilds? The names for heroes and buildings are permanent and can't be changed like they could in the original, which is problematic as random hero names/titles are lousy and so few titles exist that often I get the same name for 2 or more heroes which causes confusing if I want to resurrect/reanimate one searching through the guild lists. As in the original, heroes have a sex assigned with their class; preferably there would be random sex assignment for each hero type with a unique sex-specific animated look and portrait for each class, even if it's a tall order it would add a lot more diversity and character. Rogues, rogue guilds, cultists, temples to Fervous and spells, magic bazaars with potions, outposts, gambling halls, elven lounges, gnome heroes, inns, embassies, monks, temples to Dauros and spells, poison/healing herbs, many monster types and lairs, temples to Lunord heroes and spells, temple to Solari heroes and spells, are all removed. Why take out so friggin much? Bring some stuff back. In conclusion, it's a good little app if you like the original, but be prepared to eat some of the old and new drivel that comes with the game. Probably worth the price, just don't even bother with the demo-like free money pit version if you want the game, except to get a taste of what you're buying.
