UnbornHeart App allows you to hear your baby's heartbeat during the third trimester of your pregnancy, on weeks 30-40. Some users have been successful even before week 25 but chances are low before the third trimester. Don't panic if you cannot hear the heartbeat after a while of trying. There's still room in there for the baby to be playing hide and seek. Take a break and try again later or the next day.
1. Lay on your back in a quiet room. Gently press the bottom of your iPhone on the lower belly. Proper positioning of the phone is important. Remove the iPhone case/cover before you start monitoring!
2. Use regular headphones when listening to your baby's heartbeat. A headset with a microphone disables an internal mic. However, with iPhone 5 you can't use headphones while monitoring your baby's heartbeat because of the headset jack location.
3. Turn the volume up to the maximum loudness after you have connected headphones.
4. Use a headset or regular headphones when playing back your baby's recorded heartbeat. Frequency of the fetal heartbeat is very low. It may not be audible via the iPhone speaker.
5. Your Baby's Safety First! Switch to Airplane Mode when monitoring. Happy bonding with your unborn baby!
Microphone-based solution amplifies the heartbeat, kicks, hiccups and natural sounds of your baby. If you wish to hear your baby's heartbeat more clearly you might consider obtaining UnbornHeart Fetal Doppler Monitor which makes the fetal heartbeat audible since week 12.
You need to place your phone on your abdomen in order to monitor your fetus. Since your phone emits cellular and wireless radiation you are requested to turn your phone into Airplane Mode before using the App. UnbornHeart App doesn't require any usage of cellular or wireless networks when a fetus is monitored.
UnbornHeart App is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice or diagnosis. If you have any concerns about your fetus's health, consult with your doctor or midwife.
