Stephen Wolfram: A New Kind of Science

It is nice to have this book in an electronic format. However it is basically a PDF with no full text search and no way to bookmark or highlight. This is a problem because the book is over 1000 pages long and the app will sometimes crash and lose your place. The presentation does not fit the content. You should probably buy the wolfram alpha app first. If only this book and that app could be merged somehow. Update: actually it returns me to the table of contents every time I open the app. This is just silly.

I purchased this after Stephen Wolfram stated on his blog that he had waited for an appropriate electronic medium to create this but was unable to find one, until the iPad. While I agree with the other reviews that his is nothing special, I had to purchase it to find out.

Basic ebook features like automatic bookmark of where one left off are missing. If you reopen the app it forgets where you were and instead reverts to the cover page! Annoying!

The book is good, it took the author many years of work, but the app is really disappointing! I thought it was like iBook or other pdf reader on iPad at current days, at least let the user to highlight or write their own notes. But it is basically all pictures and you can't do anything about it ! Can't write down your thoughts when you are reading, cant highlight sentence you think are important. Please add highlight and notes functionality, for the author's hard work to be better appreciated by more readers.
