sorely needs an update sorely needs an updateThe app is great in concept, but it’s long overdue for an update. The chart designer is great, especially if you want your designer to design a chart theme with the app, then export the code for styling the chart for the developer. Or at least, it would have been, great, but the exported code won’t work because the app is so out of date compared with the current Shinobi code base. This release pre-dates iOS 7, many things have been deprecated, and lot of new stuff (including completely new chart types) have been added but none of that is reflected in the app. Having the app is better than not having it at all, since it can give the developer some idea of what can be done, starting points, etc. Shinobi has been promising an update but really we would rather see tiny incremental builds than wait so long for a new version. On the other hand, the Shinobi libraries are great, and Shinobi support is really good, too. So while the app might not really demonstrate the full potential of what can be done, if you do need help you won’t have struggle.

A neat app A neat appThis is a great app to explore the features of Shinobi especially for developers and clients. As a developer, I can customize charts (at least the design elements) easily when not working with it on my laptop. It would be helpful to have direct connections to the website to those who are interested in purchasing the product.

Slick but too many libraries demoed. Slick but too many libraries demoed. The awesome: the theme designer that can send you code for the theme you design. The good: demos of nice charts and charting examples. The bad: No mention of which features are only available in premium package. For example, the awesome auto scaling custom labels in the "tour de France" demo: is that feature available only in premium? A simple asterisk in the text explanations would fix this problem. The unwanted: the non-chart related information (grid/essentials) in the resources section of app. It clutters up the flow of learning all the details of your charting package.

App crashes App crashesThe version 2.1 crashes, when trying to press ShinobiGallery. (Workaround is, to select "United States" in Settings->General->International->Region Format)
