Good app but.... Good app but....It needs actual images, not images in which you can't tell the difference between a mountain lion and a jaguarundi, or a grizzly bear and black bear. It crashes too much.

Overall good, but more species would be nice Overall good, but more species would be nice85 mammals, 35 birds, 30 amphibians and lizards. It would be nice to drop some of the birds and amphibians for more mammals such as domestic dog and domestic cat. Seems to occasionally crash if you flip through "All species" too fast...

turn iPhone and iPod Touch into pocket field guide turn iPhone and iPod Touch into pocket field guideI can't thank Falcon Guides enough for releasing their series of Scat and Track guides as an easy to use application. I'll use this often as a National Park ranger. All of the content is stored locally, so it works fine without a connection; but if you are connected, there are links to open up images in-app from Google and Flickr. The interface is fairly easy to use and even includes a handy ruler. This contains all of the content and detailed illustrations of the wonderful books, but now is easy to search by scat and track type or through a searchable index. The glossary and tracking tips are also very helpful. And you can add personal sightings! If you can't decide which of the regional guides to purchase, get this one, as it likely contains everything you need. I compared my Scats and Tracks of the Rocky Mountains book to this North American app, and every species was included- plus about twice as many more. My iPod Touch is now an essential outdoors companion. Thanks Falcon Guides!

why no images why no imagesI bought this app when it was at 13 dollars thinking this was going to be perfect. My question is why aren't there any images of an actual track or scat? all I got for that price were drawings. I can't even view an actual animal unless I have wireless connection. Do the people that made this realize that when your in the wild you rarely have wireless service. If you deleted half the animals in here that no cares about knowing like frog tracks or small rodents and concentrated on showing actual images stored in the app I would change my rating. As it is now it needs alot of improvement.
