Covers his “Great Movies” project Covers his “Great Movies” projectRoger Ebert wrote many reviews over his long career (1967-2013) but felt that many of the best films of all time were being forgotten. In 1996, to rekindle interest in the best of cinema he began to publish new reviews of the most acclaimed films of the past for his “Great Movies” project. He hated top 10 lists, so the films are not ranked in any way. His main web site does include every review he ever wrote if that’s of interest. The Great Movies list only includes those with his maximum 4-star rating. He began repurposing these reviews in print books, a web site, and finally produced this App. So, these reviews are all available on the web, but the App is by far the easiest way to access this wealth of information (although it does not yet include his last dozen or so titles he added to the GM list). If you only know Ebert from his TV shows, you have no concept of his true skill. He wrote with the passion and intellect of a film scholar, but in very accessible language. If you want to learn about the best of cinema, I don’t know of a better starting point. Just browse these reviews. You’ll find dozens of films that interest you and as you view them, he’ll be there to guide your journey.

Indispensable Filmgoing Companion Indispensable Filmgoing CompanionYou can use Ebert thoughtfully curated list of "Great Movies" to expand or fill in gaps in your moviegoing knowledge or to refer to them after seeing a film. The writing is deceptively simple, but the analysis always profound. You'll come away with a deeper appreciation of the films and often a better understanding of essential truths about life.

Brilliant BrilliantLove this app. Must have for film-buffs. Needs an update though to fix bugs when creating film lists.

Nice! Nice!I really enjoy this app. What would be even more legendary is if there was an app that featured ALL of Roger's reviews. I know that's thousands of reviews and it'll likely never happen, but one can hope...
