Not for classroom use Not for classroom useThis app does not appear to do anything special that could be done without technology. Tracing numbers could easily be done using paper and pencil methods in the classroom. Although this app does provide an engaging way for students to trace their numbers and hear number names aloud, there are no connections made between numbers and the sets of objects they represent. For example, when a student traces a “7” they just know this as the name “seven”, not as representing seven objects. As students learn to write numbers, they should also be simultaneously seeing sets of objects that represent these numbers. Further, the busy background of the app and the dripping honey and honey swipes could easily distract young students from focusing on how to write numbers. As for controls, there seem to be no apparent ways for the teacher to control settings such as music or which numbers appear on the screen for students to trace. This would result in confusing many students, who may only know numbers 1-10, but be asked to trace numbers above 10. I would not recommend this app for classroom use.
