Great app to have on you when you learn swedish or go to sweden for holidays. The last update fixed the annoying bug on ios8. the app works great again.

Since updating, I haven’t been able to use this nor the professional app: Look up a word and you get a random word on the Swedish side of the app. Example: look up “ord”, the english ‘translation’ is: “off-hand”. Virtually word is similarly wrong.

So they really don't do a very good job of explaining just what this app can do in the description. I took a bit of a leap of faith and guessed from some of the screenshots that the developers had included some of the obvious features. Here's a breakdown of what I think is worth noting: The app lets you bookmark words after looking them up for future reference (top right of the screen). It also keeps a full history of the words you've looked up. Great for learning vocab. You can review both of these by clicking the button to the right of the search field. You can easily switch from swe-eng to eng-swe with one quick tap. This can also be changed while typing which can be really useful if you're often looking up words from both the Swedish and the English in class. Lätt som en plätt. The quiz gives you an option of 5 answers to choose from. Not just 2 as one of the pictures suggest. Much more useful. It also keeps a list of the words you answer incorrectly ranked in order of how often you get them wrong. Brilliant. I have no idea yet whether it includes all 32000 words in the quiz. I doubt it. The nouns are shown to be en/ett as they show how to form the best. form and also the plural. Bad points: Even the irregular verbs are not shown in their different tenses. Only the infinitive which is not as useful as learning the imperative when learning Swedish. I REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ISN'T INCLUDED! My understanding from reading some of the reviews for the outrageously priced (349kr) pro version is that this is still not included in the pro version. Surely this should be. The maps section really is a ridiculous inclusion. Not even remotely useful IMHO. The norstedts tab is an annoying inclusion which only serves to advertise their other products. I really think this should have been included under the mer tab instead or not at all to make the design sleeker. Update: they do have an asterisk next to irregular English verbs which correspond do the English grammar section however the same is not true of the Swedish irregular verbs. Some irregular verbs are conjugated in the Swedish grammar section but there is no asterisk to let you know the verb is irregular when searching the dictionary. IMHO the words should really be linked to each other so that you can look up a word with a single click. This would be useful because if you look up a Swedish word from the English then it doesn't tell you whether it's an en or ett word so you have to look it up twice. The dictionary itself is fairly basic in terms of both the words included and the depth of the definitions. This could be seen as a positive however.
