  • Manager
Drawer is opening after every transaction, plus it was tremendously inconvenient being forced to upgrade in the middle of the day. Not being able to ring up a transaction while a customer is sitting there waiting isn't great for business.

Awful, awful, awful! Total rip off. Wait times on hold for help are astronomical. Get a different answer every time. Waited a month for a part after 4 phone calls they swear they are sending it only to get a message 3 days later that we have to buy the part that broke after 5 months of use. Get transferred 4 to 5xs every phone call. Canceling and going with another system.

  • Price is steep
For a new small business just starting out the $60 a month fee that is charged is steep. They need to think about keeping the small business man in mind.

  • Inaccurate back office reporting
The app has some good features, but there is a serious flaw in the way sales are reported that could lead to significant accounting errors. This relates to the inability of the backoffice system to report net negative sales of an item during any given time period or day. This can arise when you have an item returned on a day when no other sales of that item occured. This is actually contrary to their own help screen for the item sales reports which says specifically that it WILL show negative sales. Upon enquiring, they Now say i must have other sales of the item on that day /period for the report to reflect the return, and they now say that their own help screen is wrong and will be changed to the above guidance. I have several different tax rates, I need to know exactly what is being sold and returned daily to ensure my tax return is accurate. In order for me to enter the item return on my books, I will need to go through each and every individual transaction in my pos detail report until I identify exctly what item was returned. If that item was actually returned on a ticket that had new purchases on it, I will potentially have to look at the detail screen of every sale made that day to find it. With a traditional cash register, like the ones this is supposed to replace, this information is readily available in the x/z reports. With NCR silver, this information must be manually mined out by reviewing all sales receipts. This creates a dangerous opportunity for bookkeeping errors that can result in erroneous tax returns. This is not an unrealistic scenario for many retailers that have certain items that may not sell on a daily basis. In addition, this is really bad from an auditing and papertrail standpoint. One other criticism of this system is the inability of the kitchen printer to differentiate between bonafide kitchen orders, and regular retail grocery sales (I run a deli). As it is now, if the kitchen printer is on, every sale of every item - carton of milk, candy bar, piece of cheese etc - gets sent to that kitchen printer. A simple item based toggle would solve the problem. I hope they fix both of these. It would be a pretty good app otherwise.

  • Keeps getting better
The new loyalty feature is simple but meets my needs. I was considering another loyalty option but now will not have to spend that extra $$$ Overall it's still not perfect but better than the alternatives that I've looked at.
