Binaural Beats and "Entrainment" aren't based on Science Binaural Beats and "Entrainment" aren't based on ScienceMy first impression is that this is a beautifully written, complex app. However, I don't think it does anything useful besides play music. Of course, if binaural beats work *for you*, who am I to argue! I downloaded the app to give entrainment another shot, still without any noticeable benefits. My hero, Brian Dunning (I have to check his name before I submit this) is the author of an excellent Podcast called Skeptoid. Each Podcast tackles a different myth, legend and unexplainable phenomenon each week, using logic, scientific method and critical thinking to determine if there's any truth to these tales. Just the other week, one of his Podcasts addressed binaural beats and syncing brain waves using audio and dismissed it as a misunderstanding of audio frequencies and electrical frequencies (but I could be wrong - I recommend listening to the Podcast or reading a transcript to make sure I'm not passing along rubbish). I think the relevant Skeptoid Podcast is focused primarily on the Schumann(sp?) resonances which has something to do with the harmonic resonance of the Earth and how many people are selling scientifically unsound (pun intended) cures based on this resonant frequency in much the same way binaural beats and entrainment are claimed to make "good things happen". I would have given 5 stars if I still believed in the theory or had a positive personal result from using the app. After all, it seems to be well written and writing an app at this level of expertise is not trivial!
