I wanted to like this game, but, wow does it have problems I wanted to like this game, but, wow does it have problemsAs a former Strategic Conquest addict, I was overjoyed to find a game that was considered a worthy replacement. But I'm glad I tried the Lite version before I plunked down some money. Here's one example of just plain sloppy programming: A troop transport can take 6 armies. But, you can move 7 (or maybe more) onto the transport. Then you move the transport and the extra army just sits there in the ocean. I don't think the game designer intended there to be magical floating armies. One of the issues in a piece-based game like this is that, as the scenarios get complex, you spend more time moving pieces around. In this game, all the piece navigation controls are terrible. They're hard to see on the screen and there's little in the way of shortcuts to help. It's also far too easy to tap to move a piece and instead end up doing something else, like bringing up the "what do you want this city to build" dialog. My advice: Try the Lite version to make sure your pleasure in playing this game outweighs its myriad annoyances.

A well played game A well played gameMother of All Battles is reminiscent of an older PC game called Empire then later reissued as Empire Deluxe. In this game you have armies, paratroops, fighters, bombers, destroyers, transports, aircraft carriers, and battleships. The maps in the game are islands and you use your transports to move your armies from island to island. You go about doing battle trying to control the cities. If you control half of the cities you win. For the mobile wargamer this will work well but I prefer Empire Deluxe Internet Edition which is currently available elsewhere.
