Needs to improve Needs to improveIt only works in landscape and has crashed about 3 or 4 times on iPad 2, but the biggest problem is that the text/images take too long to load (it is blurry for about a second or more after switching to a new frame) making it awkward to read. The images are nice, but this app definitely isn't worth the price.

it's great! it's great!i admit to being a little obsessed with "moby dick". it is considered the greatest american novel for a reason. this comic, with its animation feature, is just wonderful-it allows you to be read to in a way...... the panels, and transitions between drawings are varied, and well done. it isn't as "dumbed down" as i thought it might be, but uses words and sentences right from the book. that in itself is great. and the colors/illustrations are just gorgeous on the ipad. a real winner. a bit steep in price, but i feel very happy i bought it. attention animators: start on your next project (please??): "jonathan strange and mr. norrell" by susanna clarke. thanks!!

Prose and illustrations very good + interactivity = a nice deal! Prose and illustrations very good + interactivity = a nice deal! This is a very decent digital book for your second, third or fourth grader. Even our fifth grader enjoyed it. The illustrations are detailed and superbly-colored. The prose is well written and encapsulates a brief but competent abridgement of Moby Dick. Best of all is the mild interactivity. What is the point of a digital book without interactivity? This app is a fine showcase for the iPad and a welcome addition to our library of juvenilia. Of course, as with all condensed books, there is no substitute for the original. But for youngsters this is a good introduction.
