Stunningly good Stunningly goodFew of the reviews mention one of the most important things: the main rewards on leaderboards and the like are for skill in playing the game. You get much less reward than in other games for simply bashing away for ages to get through "levels". Apart from the possibility of buying undos, getting S levels for all the tables requires a high level of playing ability. Read about this game in the Guardian just after buying my new iPad. I'm not a big fan of computer games but this is done really well. There's a bit of mystery about it at first but the combination of the game itself and all the well-executed daftness (mildly reminiscent of Terry Gilliam's Monty Python animations) surrounding it means that I'll probably get sucked into buying the add-ons that you have to pay for. Update Jan 2012: The update to version 2 is taking a while. Blog said "final stages" back in November. I did get sucked in, by the way. March 2012: Update out now. Struts and pegs add enough difficulty to make some of the new tables a big challenge, and a top-class score on Serious table 20 still eludes me. Including prototypes of new games in the update is a nice novelty, and the developers respond to comments and suggestions. May 2012: now have S grade scores for all the tables, but can see plenty of places where I should be able to do better, and just might get to the top of the leaderboard for my strongest game. October 2013: prices for in-App purchses reduced. Oct 2014: Nice new icon in latest edition, but seemingly no chance of anything like new tables to play for this game, or any sign of the Sardines app, last mentioned on the developers' blog about 11 months ago. Recent material all seems to be memories of a 1980s video game character I don't care about, and most recently, discussion of the relative merits of the ZX81 and Commodore 64. On 29 March 2014,the same blog had word that another of the protoype games would be released as an app in a month or two, but that's equally invisible.
