Shows Promise. Fixed Landscape view a pain Shows Promise. Fixed Landscape view a painI’m a shift worker so i’m always on the lookout for the quintessential shift work app. So far, it’s eluded me. What I want a shift work app to do is to display my roster in a calendar view using icons or symbols which display up front. iPlanner does this. I also want an app which will allow me to track overtime worked, training, sick and annual leave, higher duties and so on. iPlanner does this but only to a point. We work a minimum number of hours per roster (1 calendar year). We need to make up hours and things such as training, special duties and so on make up the shortfall. I need an app which will show me how many hours are worked and what’s owing. Not many apps do this. iPlanner doesn’t. But it does have a reporting feature which could do this. When entering categories, such as my shifts it’d be nice if I could set default times, eg. for Dayshift, have a start and end time of 7am and 7pm. So, when I enter it as a new event these figures automatically fill. Same for training, overtime and other categories. Finally, this fixed landscape mode is a pain. Most people view their smartphones and tablets in “portrait mode” which, ergonomically, is easier when simple browsing. To make it auto rotate would make it as lot easier to use.

Disappointed. Disappointed. After seeing the good reviews, I was disappointed when people's birthdays are inconsistently shown in the calendar or sometimes not at all for a fair number of my contacts. This makes me feel it may be unreliable. Adding a shift is more complicated and time consuming than other apps, where you can't just 'tap' them in, but rather have to edit each day. Don't bother getting this app if you want to use it as a daily planner, as was my main reason (other than as a shift planner) as there isn't really a capability for this. You have to edit a new category, and add the actual appointment, uni class etc as a note at the bottom. Very inconvenient and unfriendly user interface.
