  • Doesn't give correct location
Took a drive with Garmin and a Bad Elf GPS unit. Drove North on I-95 in Maine. Garmin repeatedly had me located on a non-existent road parallel to the interstate, and kept trying to make me turn onto other secondary roads that are inaccessible from the interstate. Before you try to blame the GPS unit, I was also running TomTom's app simultaneously and it had me correctly located all the time. Won't use Garmin anymore. Too bad, because I really like their data entry better than TomTom's (hence the reason I bought it). Wish I could get a refund.

  • Has Worked Great for Five + Years
I bought this app at least five years ago. I’ve used it on a lot of road trips, including off-road on Jeep trails that surprisingly have shown up! It great that all the maps are downloaded so there is no requirement for a cellular network connection when in the wilds. It currently runs on two iPhones (5 and 6), and always works like a charm.

  • Unreliable database
The app itself works great. Love the layout. The database is really unreliable, at least in my area. At least half of the addresses I put in it, it takes me to the wrong place. The other day the address I was looking for was about 6 blocks on down the road past the second curve. This is the kind of performance I've come to expect from this app. I originally got it because everyone knows that Garmin sets the standard for gps navigation. WRONG!

  • Don't let stupid users skew you away
So for what it's worth, if you like Garmin's OS and their time honored GPS interface you will enjoy this app. Its a great stand alone app or as a last mile companion to a hardware unit. I use the app extensively for my motorcycle, and on trips when I'm in a rental car. Its just as good as a hardware unit. If you start and stop the map download it can get corrupted. If it does you will have some of the issues people complain about. Only major highways only etc.. If I had one complaint its that they force you to download the large mapsets. With a cellular device you could easily segment the maps files and use a cloud based mapset, but Im sure they will get there someday. For now its a 60$ nuvi.
