Dr Ian Aarons Dr Ian AaronsI was more than looking forward to an audio version of this book. and I was delighted finding one.. I am most reluctant to criticise volunteers when, generally, they do a grand job. Yet in this instance, sadly, I feel I must do so. Admittedly, I did not listen to the entire book - I couldn't , for in places the diction was 'stony' rather than story-telling. As well, though very importantly and ultimately most irritating, was the mispronunciation of names of certain characters - most particularly 'Peggoty'. To the best of my knowledge the accent should have been on the the 1st syllable - not the middle so her name sounded like 'PiGGOty' - instead of 'PIggoty' - and as such this name took me a while to register. Much as I admire the volunteers, I suggest that they, as readers, be given 'tutorials', on diction and correct pronounciation. Very sadly, I cannot personally recommend this audio book, which, also most sadly, I ultimately had to delete from the iPad.

Awful AwfulYou can go online and listen to better readers and voices for free. Some voices are horrible and hard to understand. Don't waste your money on this.
