Birdwatch2013 Birdwatch2013Nice little app. I hate paper, so if I can do all my recording on an app, I'm happy chap. Just used it for this year's BGBW. A couple of suggestions: 1. It would be great if data could be submitted directly through the app. 2. A search function would be good for quick access to species. 3. The 'share' function for Facebook generates one of the weirdest error messages I've ever seen. But for a free app that does what it says, I'd say it's bang on and easy to use.

Misses the synergistic point of an app entirely! Misses the synergistic point of an app entirely!I think RSPB are afraid of giving away too much information in a free app (versus flogging more copies of their 'Birds of Britain' app)! Used this today for the BGBW. Only a limited selection of birds and no option to put in others (unlike the RSPB website), no information on a bird whatsoever (unlike the RSPB website), just a single, small thumbnail, and to hear the bird calls (yep, free on the RSPB website), it's a paid extra! So having entered all the birds that visited in the hour, I expected to be able to press the 'Email Spottings' button to send them off directly to RSPB and job done - not so! Instead, a box pops up informing you this is only for your own use and that you have to still enter them yourself into the website survey - there's no link in the app to the survey page either!! This button is misleading and should have been included in with the options under the other 'Share' button, which has FB, Twitter and Email (under more...) options. I chose the first option, 'Leave Feedback'... So many ways to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts, suggest avoid this app unless you must use your phone because pen and paper is a foreign concept. I'm an RSPB Fellow (i.e. life member) and am thoroughly disappointed by this amateurish effort.

Don't bother Don't botherAs an identifier it is inadequate. As a log it is rather cumbersome; moreover it is not integrated into the RSPB website, so you have to copy your log out again on the website. It is actually easier just to keep a paper log and then copy onto the website.

Kevo KevoLooked like a useful app but on use it is absolutely useless and pointless as your records can't go anywhere as I can't submit records anywhere pointless
