A good start, but could be improved A good start, but could be improvedThis is a useful application for reviewing the essential properties of amino acids, allowing you to quickly group them by pH, polarity, etc. The main page is puzzling, in that the amino acids are colored differently (yellow, blue, pink, and teal), but it is unclear what this color coding represents. When you sort the amino acids by a property, such as pH, the acidic ones are identified by a red frame, the basic ones by a blue frame. Because of the above coloring system, it is actually hard a times to see the frames. It would have been better to have the entire icon change color, as needed. Another shorting coming is that one cannot use the single letter code to identify amino acids. Thus, if you can't remember what the letter W symbolizes, for example, you need to scroll through all the members. It would have been better if one could retrieve amino acid names by the single symbol system. A third problem is that it does not appear possible to contact the developer (I've tried). Notwithstanding these limitations, this is a pretty good program, containing more information that the only other amino acid program currently available through the App store.
