Accurate, nonbiased Accurate, nonbiasedAmerican history is my hobby and I was thrilled that me kids like and use this app. As far as accuracy and bias goes, it reflects mainstream views on social aspects of the rebellion. It does not "slant" towards rebel nor redcoat. Understanding the origins of crown policy making of the late 17th century are of course beyond the scope the scope of this app. As others have commented, the timeline is great. The app is a fine adjunct tovisiting key historical sites.and that is how we primarily have used it.

Backhanded toward Americans Backhanded toward AmericansWarning: Do not buy this app. if you are an American Patriot. There are enough truths in this app. to make it sound believable, but the bias sounds as though this history is being told from the point of view of a defeated Red Coat. This app is a good example of historians retelling stories with a slant. The author compares the colonists to a rebellious child going against a parent. Note this quote "If you sometimes don't want to do what your parents tell you to do, you have an idea of how Great Britain's 13 American colonies felt in the 1770s." According to this app. the colonists were some of the wealthiest communities per capita in the world, but did not want to do their part in paying for the French and Indian War. Later it contradicts itself by telling how the colonists were not wealthy enough to give soldiers adequate provisions and instead of shoes soldiers sometimes had only rags to wear on their feet. Instead of saying that Samuel Adams and John Hancock encouraged independence, this author writes these two men "kept the colonists in a constant state of agitation against British rule." Almost every page has a backhanded negative comment unless it is only describing the British or its loyalists.

Excellent! Excellent! An excellent introduction to the American Revolution. Entertaining and informative from beginning to end, this app is not just about the war itself but also about the men (and women!) who played key roles in America's defeat of the British.

America's founding brought to life. America's founding brought to life.An intelligent, thoughtful overview of the American revolution for kids. Interspersed with lots of interactive features, it's also a great reading of history. I loved that it didn't neglect the women of revolutionary America. And I also loved the timeline scroll. All in all, another great app in the Kids Discover series. Well worth the price!
