Description
Visit St. Matthew’s Cemetery, which has recently been restored by the City of Quebec in accordance with the spirit of this hallowed place.
Listen to well-known historian David Mendel recount the sometimes tragic end of the 6,000 to 10,000 men, women and children who were buried there between 1772 and 1860.
This 12-station guided tour of the 314 gravestones, complete with quality sound effects and photographs, is about 40-minutes long.
Located at 775 Saint-Jean Street, St. Matthew’s Cemetery is a classified cultural property. A peaceful haven in the heart of the St. Jean-Baptiste quarter, the Anglican cemetery still conveys a feeling of being a corner of England.
