Great app Great appThere are a lot of food apps out there, and I have tried maybe a dozen or more, but most leave me feeling pretty flat. Either they are free and then I end up having to spend a lot on in app purchases or they cost a small fortune and most of the recipes are not my taste. Past experience has made me leery of buying cooking apps, but this one got a good review in Bon Appetit Magazine. The reviews were all favorable and the ratings were high in the app store so I bit the bullet and paid up the $3.99. To my surprise the app was worth it! The first time you open the app, Sara is there with an intro video telling you all about italian cooking and the app itself. Then the screen goes to a list of pantry staples that every Italian kitchen should have. The user can click on a pantry staple to watch a video about the item or click on a series of ingredients to see a list of recipes of what you can make with those ingredients. You can also just view all of the recipes. This is an amazing app. For a dinner with some friends I made Bistecca Chiania, Braised Green Beans in Tomato Sauce, and Pan-Roasted Fingerling Potatoes. Everything turned out well and we all left the table stuffed.

No ability to export the recipe to email or printer No ability to export the recipe to email or printerThe recipes in this app are amazing. But the most basic function of being able to export a recipe to email or to a printer isn't built in. (Presumably to force people to buy the app in order to get at its content….but for those of us who have paid the $, we can't easily share the content in our own household.) Even more frustrating is that the "sharing" to Facebook & Twitter doesn't allow you to customize the information/verbiage that you want to share, so you're basically just sharing a link to the app webpage so your share looks like a "ad." Other than missing basic (and IMPORTANT) export functionality, this app delivers a beautiful and thoughtful experience.

Great cooking app! Great cooking app! This should a model for all cooking apps! It's a versatile and intuitive tool for the home cook. My only wish is to be able to pick a protein and work back to a recipe with the suggested pantry ingredients from there. Other than that, the recipes are tasty and dependable. A good purchase!
