Unauthorized downloads Unauthorized downloadsThe app doesn't currently allow to confirm the purchase before downloading. Basically, a wrong tap ends with an unwanted charge to your account. In addition, no indication of price is given before downloading. Therefore, this application is not suitable for a general reader unless one is willing to accept occasional unwanted charges, or has a monthly subscription (available for around $29/month). Too bad as it would be a very fine product otherwise.

So far, so good! So far, so good!At the risk of jinxing this app, PressReader seems to have hit a nice plateau...works well on current hardware running up to date OS. I personally have no complaints and wonder which iPad and what iOS the folks are running who are upset. Backwards compatibility is hard to guarantee in a rapidly changing competitive electronics era.

Excellent ExcellentUpdate: July 19, 2015 This is, very truly, a dumb reader. Quite sophomoric. As long as my demands were simple - just one newspaper - everything went well. I tried other papers offering samples. I didn't like them and wanted to get rid of them showing up everyday and distracting me. Not possible! Then my earlier complaint too, below. A dumb reader indeed. --- The app meets and exceeds many expectations. I wish I could copy and download elsewhere.

Not the worst Not the worstThis app should be simpler (maybe 'cause we shouldn't need an app to deliver subscription content.) Not the worst I've seen, but far from the best.
