Inverse Universe Lite - Room Escape

Visually, this is an attractive game. Clean, crisp graphics with rooms and objects of nice depth, color, texture and lighting. When you first start the game, or when you enter another scene, it plays a brief computer animation of a sweeping view of the rooms. It's smooth and awesome. So it becomes that much more disappointing when you see how limited the actual movements are while you play the game, and not at all like the starting animation. You are given only two arrows indicating the directions to move, and when you touch an arrow to move, the scene jumps abruptly to the next view. There is nothing smooth about it, and it's actually unsettling. This isn't that unusual for escape games, but this one seems particularly jumpy. What made it even worse for me is that I just finished playing Stormglass, with its 3D scenes and natural-like ability to move in every direction, including tilting up or down. After exploring several rooms, there were only three or four objects to pick up. Using the objects is not as intuitive as in other escape games. You can see only one object at a time, the one you are using, and all others are in another unseen screen. That's really inconvenient. I looked at dozens of different areas in the rooms, including close-ups, without seeing anything else that was useful. The captions even said there was nothing there, so why offer the close-up? Maybe I have to pay to get more useful stuff. So far, there aren't even any puzzles to solve to get objects. So, I lost interest and put the game aside to look for more interesting and satisfying games. Maybe I'll try again later.
