The reader is awkward, I like the contents of the mag but soooooooooooooo annoying to read on an ipad, crashes, auto-zoom text when I dont want to, freezes....
Bloody hell - were can I get a simple PDF?
And...ads while im using the mag although I payed you about 25Es for the subscription? Srsly?!
Constant freezing of approximately 3secs, random "show text" button in the middle of the page, random crashing and zooming is simple odd. Then there is the irritating banner ad which wouldn't be so bad if a) I wasn't paying for the magazine which contains ad itself and b) I didn't have to stare at the ad pages while it freezes between page turns.
I thought I'd be able to preview the magazine, but instead all you get to see are small unreadable icons of the magazine pages that give you NO idea what the articles are about or whether it's worth buying.
I love the content. I subscribed this magazine for 1 year but the reading experience is VERY BAD. Please improve! I want to get the PDF version just like it's said in the website but I can not find it as well!
The quality of the image and text is very good, very happy with the result, I was expecting low quality scan of the print, but this is not the case! Highly recommended ! My only wish is that they update the icons for the new iPad!
The text is very small and colored text has comprssion artifacts. Pinch zoom does not work corectly. All in all this makes the magazine unreadable. I subscribe to several magazines on the iPad and this is the only one with these problems.
Non ergonomic application. You go through low resolution pages and can't zoom enough to read the text as the quality is too low.
You have then to you the text mode which just *** as you lose the layout and can't easily move from article to article.
It's the worst Newsstand application tested so far ...
Hi. In response to feedback specific to readability. There is a text view feature available. On the iPhone, there is a text icon below each article to switch to text. Also, from the App table of contents, you can click on articles to view in text. For iPads, the text option is on the top bar on the right-hand side.
We'll continue to work w/our vendor to better the experience. Thanks for feedback! Cheers!
Content is great stuff, but it's impossible to read the text; the pages seem to be displayed as low-res images, and the app won't let you pinch in close enough to read the text.
Aside from readability, the whole download paradigm is broken--I can't tell if it's only possible to cache one issue at a time (which would be bad on its own) or what's going on.
Needs a lot of work.
*Review for iPad version, haven't tried iPhone.
GD mag is the best. This app worked fine for a while, I was planning to give a 5. But now, no. I love GD so I'm not gonna give 1 star. But your stuff doesn't work anymore! I'm not talking about the missing space or other spelling/editing cookies in the Text mode, I'm not talking about your LOW resolution scanned picture which is not even possible to read. I'm talking about the app, your app, the app under the name of Game Developer Mag, it refuses to work after I restore my iPhone4, always telling me no connection while Wifi is full power, and the entire interface crashed. Fix it and make it better for GD's sake.
I bought my first digital issue and I WON'T be buying another. The interface is clunky, and for some reason the app won't let me zoom in enough to read the text comfortably. It's like all they did was scan each page and save it as a low-quality jpeg, compression artifacts and all.
The content in the magazine is good, but the experience of reading the digital version is terrible. Stick with the paper editions until they deliver a better product.
Must have app for anyone interested in game development
If you are interested at all in game development then you must have this app.
It is the best way to get accurate and technically accurate information about all things game development related.
I love the magazine but the messing around to put it on my iPad was always annoying.
I really wanted this app, but after downloading it, you just can't zoom-in enough to read on your iPhone, and the at the maximum zoom the text is blurry... simply not readable at all. They should let you zoom at least twice as much, and with at least 3x text quality.
will not buy any issue unless its fixed.
I didn't like the experience of reading issues from Safari so I would download the PDFs and place them on my iPad. I do wish I could access the rest of the back issues from this app. Hopefully that will come soon.
