Flexafe

Flexafe is a universal app representing an ideal tool for storing useful information in the same secure container. It allows users to securely store different types of items, from Internet or bank account details to insurance policy details, from restaurants opening times to birthday reminders, to-do lists or even wine lists, with the ability to interface seamlessly with the on-board Calendar app, in order to easily link dates to event and/or alarms (for expiry dates in passports or birthday reminders, for example).

Flexafe ships with several default templates, but users can easily customize the structure of each individual record. A record item is made up of fields such as usernames, passwords, URLs (web addresses), emails, dates, times, images, and even to-do items or noise levels. Record fields can be easily added, repositioned, removed, and named to suit different needs.

When the user modifies an existing record, or creates a new one from scratch, Flexafe transparently defines a new template, or updates an existing one. This way users do not need to worry about template creation or management, but can concentrate on using the application to store information, no matter how this is structured.

Flexafe has lots of icons that users can associate with specific items. Item thumbnails can also be derived from images or web screenshots for URL addresses stored inside a record (i.e. an item recording an Internet account can be listed with a thumbnail displaying the home page of that service).

Security

Each safe within the application is individually protected by a user-defined password. In addition, some item fields (such as usernames, passwords, numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, images) are stored encrypted within the filesystem.

Flexafe uses Apple's Core Data to store and manage data, and the protected item fields are individually encrypted within each safe; they are decrypted only when the user requests their display.

Safes' synchronization or backup

Flexafe allows users to backup their safes using an existing Dropbox account. This way it is possible for two or more devices to synchronize data between them. A single device can securely backup its data without the need for a matching desktop application.

The encryption key is never transmitted with the synchronized data.
