Almost Back to Greatness Almost Back to GreatnessI use Downcast on both iOS and OSX. It has been a great piece of software but the last few updates on both platforms have introduced quite a few problems which made the OSX version unusable and the iCloud syncing not working at all. However, this last update has brought stability once again. The iCloud syncing still seems a liitle unsure and can take a little bit of time to sync between my devices so I think there is room for improvement there. Hopefully any future updates will not cause any more issues. It is a great application for podcasts and I am glad that it is back and working again.

Not Ready for Yosemite Macs Not Ready for Yosemite MacsJust won’t work properly on my mac. Appears to work like always on the iPhone but on the mac I can’t get the download and streaming queues to play. And I had to PAY $10 for the mac version! Jeesh!

High-quality, essential app High-quality, essential appI have been using Downcast on the Mac since the first moment it was available (I also use it on iOS). It continues to be the best Podcast app (pod-catcher) for the platform, hands-down. There are glitches from time to time, but overall this app does a *GREAT* job downloading/playing/syncing shows. So far, this new version has fixed some minor issues from the previous version and is working well for me. I’ve see a few comments that there are “syncing” issues and problems with content files, but I’m wondering if these users even tested this new version because those are apparently fixed already. I highly recommend this app, on both Mac and iOS.

Doesn’t sync well!! Doesn’t sync well!!The reason I bought this app was because it claims to sync with the mobile app. That isn’t always the case. It’s very unreliable and frustrating.

Going downhill fast Going downhill fastDowncast used to provide the best of the podcast apps that could sync between iOS and Mac. I think the UI on both leaves a lot to be desired, but at least it worked and synced. That’s not the case anymore. Both apps have been plagued with problems since the release of Yosemite and iOS 8. This is now a totally broken podcast app on both platforms. Even in the latest Mac version, it constant loses track of podcast files and displays annoying and not helpful dialogs letting you know that it basically lost all your files - or “inaccessible content” as they call it. And it still has all the UI and functionality problems that it always had, like no true AirPlay support; you have to redirect your system audio to get it to work I think it’s becoming time to give up on Downcast and consider alternatives, although no one really seems to be able to get this right.
