Beautiful BeautifulCastro is a great podcast app. It’s extremely well done. It has almost everything I want and nothing I don’t. It’s intuitive to use and beautifully designed. Only missing two things in my opinion: - An option to set the number of episodes to keep. - Some sort of backup/sync. All in all Castro is a great app. Highly recommended.

Very nice!!! Very nice!!!Very happy with my purchase of Castro. The UI is beautiful and the use of swiping to navigate throughout the app is smooth and enjoyable. I especially like the fact that I can set either global or individual settings for auto or manually downloading podcast episodes. This is something I hated when I tried Overcast. Overcast would automatically download every new episode with no options to do it manually. This is very annoying when you have podcast subscriptions where you don't necessarily want to listen to every new episode. With Castro, I can pick and choose how this goes. A couple things I'd like to see: 1) Settings to clear the app cache after episodes are deleted. Something like Unread, where it clears itself after a set time, perhaps? 2) Notification badges. 3) Better search and suggestions. The search is quick, but could use an easier way for new podcast discovery.

My favorite podcast app My favorite podcast appI listen to about 5-10 hours of podcasts a week, and have been for years. This app is so simple, it lets me get in and out of it so I can keep using my phone. I don't need heavy organizational features, or playlists, or any of the other features that other apps have to offer. What this app does have is an incredibly simple and elegant design. I love Castro, it's one of my favorite apps ever, because it does exactly what I want, and nothing more. I would pay a lot more than it's selling for, which ought to be endorsement enough.

Rooting for it! Rooting for it!There is Pocket Cast & Downcast that holds the two top spots for Podcasts apps. While Castro has to take over the left overs between the two. I'm a long time user of Pocket Casts, I've dabbled in Downcast. But I like Castro... I think they designed a great app. But the fact there's no iCloud sync or any syncing period and no iPad app.. Is a downer. I tried to look past it, give it a chance because I want to see them succeed. I think Downcast is just a mess of an app.. But can't really knock it due to how much features it has. Castro needs to work on its syncing capabilities & creating an iPad app. Rooting for this app!

Podcast Perfection Podcast PerfectionWhen overhyped new podcast apps debut, I immediately buy and try them. Within a few days, I inevitably come back to Castro. Castro is, for my needs, podcast perfection. I have 24 subscriptions and probably listen to 12 hours of shows per week. I've been heavily into podcasts since 2007 or so. h/t - Five Hundy By Midnight and Onion Radio News... Two of my earliest favorites. Anyway, Castro's notifications fire reliably, episodes download quickly and this app does everything beautifully. The typography is stunning and the settings changes introduced in ver. 1.1 made this my daily driver. Early on I was annoyed by the circle-cropped show art, but the 1.1 update even addressed that—making some tweaks that solved all annoyances. If you want to fiddle with settings and "work" to make a podcatcher ideal, go buy one of the hyped apps. If you want simplicity with reasonable flexibility and bulletproof functionality, buy Castro today.
